Biography:

Francesca Battistin was born in 1979 and studied Economics at Bocconi University in Milan. She then undertook a post-degree course in Cooperation and Development, mainly centred on Project Cycle Management methodologies. While at university, she completed an internship at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago del Chile, focusing on economic development-related issues and their application in Latin America.

Francesca’s work experience with ILO/CRISIS started in May 2004, when she joined the team as an intern to assist with technical backstopping of ILO recovery projects in Argentina and Uruguay, both affected by a financial and economic crisis. As a conclusion to this experience, she participated in the midterm evaluation exercise of the AREA programme in Argentina. She is currently involved in capacity building activities for the International Recovery Platform, in association with the Delnet Programme of the ILO International Training Centre and several UN and non-UN agencies involved in disaster management. She also works on ILO involvement in the Early Recovery Cluster of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and the ILO-FAO partnership in post-emergency response and livelihood promotion. Her final area of focus is ILO-World Bank cooperation in post-war livelihood recovery, in particular a pilot programme in Aceh Province, Indonesia.
