Your contribution through the Platform

You have five main modalities for contributing to the finalization of the LER L&P Package:

  • Commenting of the draft Guides that you can download from the section LER L&P Guides ;
  • Uploading documentation in one of the three categories Library, Tools and Project-related documents;
  • Proposing topics that you would like to discuss in the Forum with the other Peer Reviewers;
  • Suggesting events/activities to be inserted in the calendar;
  • Besides the contribution through the web platform, some of you (the most active in the platform!) will be invited to participate to the validation workshop to be held at the completion of the final draft of the Guidebook, envisaged for September 2008. The venue will be held at the ILO International Training Centre in Turin.

How to go about it?

  • you can make changes on the document, using the track-change modality, and send it to me via e-mail (very soon you will be enabled to upload documents)
  • you can make comments by replying to the Forum launched by Monica Lisa and titled Guide 1. In order to do that, take these simple steps:
    (1) click on Forum & Private messages (link posted in the navigation bar)
    (2) click on the title of the forum (Guide 1) that appears in the list
    (3) click on the "reply" button if you wish that everybody can read your comment, or on the "send pm" button if you want to reply only to Monica with a private message.
    (4) write on the white space and send it!

What will you get out of it?

By inviting you to become a Peer Reviewer of the LER L&P Package, we are asking you to make an effort and to help us complete this project. You must be probably wondering: “what am I going to gain from it?”, “why should I invest my time and energies in this project, which is not mine?”.

These issues are certainly legitimate and deserve an answer. Being the promoter of this initiative and having built experiences over years of project implementation for economic recovery, ILO believes that the wealth of experience and knowledge that each of you has accumulated over the years of professional engagement represents the foundation of our work. We also believe that information sharing with peers has the power to multiply knowledge beyond the capacities of individuals and single institutions.

Here are some of the benefits that you will get by participating in the platform:

  • Credit to your contribution in the acknowledgments section of the Guidebook;
  • Space throughout the guidebook to share with the users relevant information/stories produced by you or the Organization for which you work, and related to specific field-based practice;
  • The possibility to be part of a forum and of a network of practitioners and other relevant professionals and to benefit from the interaction with them;
  • The chance, if interested, in being inserted in our roster of experts that can be involved in the design and implementation of LER interventions;
  • The chance of being kept informed about materials, tools and events linked to LER.

Some basic rules for the use of the platform

  • The circulation of the LER L&P Guides drafts is to be kept among the network of Peer Reviewers
  • When uploading any file, please remember to fill in the short descriptive chart (Title, Author, Date, Type of document – to be chosen among Guides, Library, Tools, Project-related documents)
