LAT and LER Roll-out in South Kivu, DRC
Up one levelFrom this folder you can download the documents concerning the inter-agency mission to be led by ILO/CRISIS in the DRC Province of South Kivu. The initiative is to expand the employment and local economic aspects of the livelihood analysis and strategy formulation concluded by FAO in early June, in Uvira and Fizi. The expected ILO-FAO livelihood and economic recovery strategy will aim at the (re)integration of returnees and IDPs in the targeted territories. Such two-phased endeavour contributes to one of the major axes of the 2008 Work Plan of the Cluster Working Group on Early Recovery (CWGER), namely the support to field operations in roll out countries through the provision of technical assistance and the country-focused application of operational guidance and tools that have been developed at the global level. In DRC the UN Country Team (UNCT) has prioritized early livelihood recovery as an area for which support from the global level CWGER would be sought. In light of FAO and ILO co-leadership of the CWGER livelihood sub-cluster, these two agencies have taken the lead in shaping up a comprehensive and multi-agency effort that addresses the livelihood recovery needs in DRC. ILO-led exercise will involve a number of core agencies and stakeholders, which have already participated to FAO’s assessment and welcomed the initiative advocating for its replication in other territories.
